Hi, I am Shalini Singh (LMHC-D, NCC, C-DBT), and I’m here to help you manage your thoughts, emotions, and actions to feel empowered. As an online mental health therapist in NY, I have witnessed people come to me with general mental health issues like stressful work conditions, social anxiety, along with complex problems due to trauma and toxic relationships. In all of this, the very first thing I help my clients realize is just how powerful their minds really are. I’m Shalini, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in New York. I specialize in working with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, grief, and relationship challenges. My approach to therapy is warm, relational, and deeply personalized. I integrate evidence-based tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with the deeper, insight-oriented lens of psychodynamic therapy. This means that together, we won’t just focus on “fixing symptoms”—we’ll explore and understand the why behind them, and we’ll tailor strategies that help you create meaningful, lasting change.
What to Expect: A Therapy Approach That’s Rooted in Insight and Action
Psychodynamic therapy is at the heart of my work. This approach helps us understand how your early experiences and unconscious patterns may be shaping your current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors—often without you realizing it. Many clients come to therapy unsure of why they keep ending up in the same painful situations, or why certain emotional reactions feel so intense. Psychodynamic therapy allows us to shine a light on these patterns, bringing awareness to what’s been operating in the background.
But insight alone isn’t always enough. That’s why I also integrate practical, evidence-based strategies from DBT and CBT—proven approaches that help you build emotional regulation skills, improve focus and motivation, manage difficult thoughts, and respond to life in more balanced and effective ways.
